Clean air, parks & water

Some people call it Manitoba’s backyard. Our province’s many rivers, lakes and parks are a part of what makes Manitoba a great place to live.

Greg Selinger and your NDP are committed to protecting these natural habitats and ensuring that all Manitobans can enjoy them, for generations to come.

That’s why we’ve created tough new rules to keep pollutants like hog manure out of our rivers and lakes. We’ve said no to logging in our provincial parks. And we’re investing in clean renewable energy by building Manitoba Hydro.

Today, Manitoba is leading the way in the testing and development of electric vehicles - helping reduce harmful greenhouse gases.

For families like yours, all this means that for years to come, you can enjoy clean drinking water from our taps and camping in our provincial parks.

Hugh McFadyen and the PCS are a risk to our environment.

Hugh McFadyen and the PCs don’t seem concerned about protecting our environment. They’ve said it’s not an issue that they’re “going to win an election on”.

Perhaps that’s why Hugh McFadyen called investments to modernize wastewater and sewage treatment “wasteful”. He’s even said he would ram Manitoba Hydro’s bipole transmission line right through the heart of our Boreal Forest - the largest unspoiled forest of its kind anywhere in the world.

When it comes to protecting our parks and water for future generations, Hugh McFadyen and the PCs aren’t a risk we can afford to take.

Let’s keep protecting and improving our environment.

With smart, practical solutions, Greg Selinger and your NDP are:

  • Preventing hog manure from entering our water to save and protect our lakes;
  • Expanding Manitoba’s clean hydro and wind energy exports – displacing millions of tonnes of fossil fuel emissions and keeping electricity rates low for Manitobans;
  • Saving electricity with our Power Smart energy efficiency programs;
  • Partnering with businesses such as New Flyer and Mitsubishi to become leaders in the development of electric vehicles;
  • Expanding our protected areas including our Boreal Forest – the largest of its kind in the world; and
  • Requiring the City of Winnipeg to modernize its aging North end sewage treatment plant.

Together, we can keep Manitoba on track and moving forward. Let’s keep building. Don’t turn back.
