Making life more affordable
Each day, more and more people are making the move to Manitoba because our cost of living is low and our standard of living is high.
Greg Selinger and your NDP are working to make life even better for Manitoba families.
That’s why we’ve invested to keep Manitoba growing by freezing or cutting personal income and property taxes in each of the last ten years.
Today, we’re helping drivers get around with the most affordable insurance rates in Canada. We’re providing families with the lowest electricity rates in North America and we’re giving parents access to high quality child care that is the second most affordable in the country. We’re also ensuring more Manitobans can access Canada’s second most affordable college and third most affordable university tuition fees.
It’s no wonder our population is growing – 16,100 more people last year alone – and MoneySense Magazine ranked Brandon and Winnipeg in their top 10 list of best places to live in Canada.
Hugh McFadyen’s plans are to cut and privatize.
Hugh McFadyen’s track record of privatization, first as right hand man to Gary Filmon who sold-off MTS after promising not to, and then working to help Ontario privatize hydro, has many Manitobans worried about the future of Manitoba Hydro.
And his recent push to cut half a billion dollars from the budget would put our schools, hospitals and police at risk – all because cutting budgets matters more to Mr. McFadyen than protecting and improving the things families depend on.
Don’t let Hugh McFadyen turn back the progress we’ve made for Manitoba families.
Let’s keep building and making life more affordable in Manitoba.
With smart, practical solutions, Greg Selinger and your NDP are:
- Continuing to reduce taxes for families as a part of our Manitoba Moves Forward economic action plan – saving a family of four $212 this year and $374 a year by 2014;
- Keeping Manitoba Hydro public to ensure reliable and affordable electricity for families and businesses;
- Freezing university tuition fees to the rate of inflation;
- Increasing the minimum wage – set to increase to $10 this Fall;
- Protecting renters against massive rent increases with fair rent controls;
- Building more affordable housing to meet the needs of families; and
- Rewarding safe drivers with lower insurance rates.
Together, we can keep Manitoba on track and moving forward. Let’s keep building. Don’t turn back.
