Manitoba, a place more people are calling home
People from all over the world are learning what we already know about our province. Manitoba is a great place to live, work and raise a family.
Perhaps that’s why our population has increased by over 100,000 people in just over 11 years - and by more than 16,000 in the last year alone.
Greg Selinger and your NDP know that a growing population is good for our province and our economy.
Our highly recognized Provincial Nominee Program is bringing thousands of immigrants to Manitoba each year. An independent review of the program found that 85% of provincial nominees found work within three months and three out of four nominees became homeowners in less than five years.
With strong support from the business community, we’re working to expand this program even further to reunite families and meet the needs of our job market.
Hugh McFadyen doesn’t understand the needs of newcomers.
Hugh McFadyen’s plan to cut half a billion dollars from the provincial budget would hurt our schools and hospitals and the services that new Manitobans and all families count on.
Let’s keep building and improving Manitoba for everyone.
With smart, practical solutions, Greg Selinger and your NDP are:
- Providing strong protection for temporary foreign workers through the Manitoba Worker Recruitment and Protection Act;
- Increasing funding for neighbourhood settlement, integration and English as an Additional Language for newcomers;
- Streamlining the provincial nominee application process to ensure applications are processed within 6 months;
- Modernizing the application process by taking it online to make the provincial nominee program more user-friendly;
- Making it easier for International Students to stay and work in Manitoba once they complete their education; and
- Pushing the federal government to lift a cap of 5,000 people to expand the Provincial Nominee Program.
Together, we can keep Manitoba on track and moving forward. Let’s keep building. Don’t turn back.
