As we review the result of the April 19th election, I want to extend our sincere thanks for the support you have offered to the Manitoba NDP and to our election campaign.
While the results are not what we hoped, we are very proud of our efforts and of the team of candidates who represented us. Our leader and Premier, Greg Selinger, put forward our vision with passion and commitment and presented Manitobans with a clear and progressive vision.
Thanks to your support, we were able to reach out to Manitobans with every form of communication and although the Conservatives outspent us in a significant way, we were successful in reaching people with our message and our programme. Our constituency campaigns were strong and reflected the grassroots participation that the NDP has encouraged over the years.
We leave office, but we are also leaving a tremendous legacy from expanded child care to ground-breaking reconciliation efforts to Canada's lowest unemployment rate. That legacy will endure and inspire citizens from all walks of life and in all parts of our province. Our government accomplished so much, for so many people - let's all be proud of that!
We remain a strong political force and I know we will come back with renewed determination and commitment.
Again, thank you for your continuing support.
