We made it! We walked and knocked every door in this constituency. We sat with our seniors and heard their incredible stories. We held ceremony with our young Indigenous activists and met them at the Bell Tower. We raised flags for Pride, and Filipino Independence, and we listened to as many people as we could find, to share their thoughts and hopes about Point Douglas, the NDP, and the future of our constituency.
The passion, hard work and commitment of our supporters and volunteers made this victory possible. We dropped 30,000 pieces of literature. We spoke with more than 7,000 residents. We put up nearly 1,000 signs (sometimes in the same spot!). We received generous contributions from supporters like you across the constituency and the province. Sincere thanks to supporters just like you.
Today, we can reflect, give thanks and celebrate our hard fought win.
Tomorrow, we start working to get Point Douglas families and values prioritized in the Manitoba Legislature. We will fight to reinstate funding for the North Point Douglas Women’s Centre, to bring good jobs and training opportunities to our community, and to make our neighbourhoods safer. We will continue working with a strong constituency association that encourages new voices and values sage advice.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for helping get us here. Thank you for honouring me with this privilege. Now, it’s time to get to work!
