A strong and vibrant North

Whether you live in a Churchill, Emerson or Winnipeg, all Manitobans benefit from strong northern communities. A strong Manitoba, means a strong North.

That’s why Greg Selinger and your NDP are working to improve the quality of life and opportunities for northern and Aboriginal families.

We built the University College of the North to give northern students the education and training that they need to succeed. We’re connecting more northern communities by building new roads. And, we’re getting healthy and traditional foods to more families through our Northern Healthy Foods Initiative.

Today, we’re working closely with northern and Aboriginal communities to invest in the things that northern families care about. Together we’ll meet the housing, health, and transportation needs of families in our diverse and vibrant North.

Northern Manitoba isn’t on Hugh McFadyen’s map.

In the last election, Hugh McFadyen promised to cut funding for infrastructure and projects in the North and focus the money on Southern Manitoba. His party said that if given the chance, they would cancel the University College of the North.

Manitobans know that’s wrong. Don’t let Hugh McFadyen tear down what we’ve built together for northern and Aboriginal families.

Let’s keep building and improving northern Manitoba.

With smart, practical solutions, Greg Selinger and your NDP are:

  • Investing in all levels of education to increase high school graduation rates and ensure young people can pursue college, university and training opportunities;
  • Creating opportunities by supporting and developing our key northern industries;
  • Working with the federal government and northern communities to make better health care available to northern families closer to home;
  • Connecting more northern communities by building reliable, all-weather roads;
  • Investing in provincially owned and operated airports to better provide northern communities with essential health, food and supplies;
  • Funding our Northern Friendship Centres to help meet the needs of Aboriginal communities; and
  • Supporting and growing the Port of Churchill through direct investment and by standing up for Manitoba farmers and the Canadian Wheat Board.

Together, we can keep Manitoba on track and moving forward. Let’s keep building. Don’t turn back.
