We've been hearing for months now that nurses working at some of the busiest hospitals in Manitoba are being forced to work long mandatory overtime shifts -- sometimes 16 hours in a row.
Nearly one year since the Pallister government launched an all out attack on Manitoba’s healthcare system, wait times for emergency rooms have gotten worse.
This week Pallister released data on wait times for Winnipeg emergency rooms from the month of August. That release showed wait times in emergency departments across the city have increased since last fall.
Someone’s deleted a video that was publicly visible this week outlining deletions coming for nurses and staff at HSC and Children’s Hospital in the government’s next phase of health cuts and closures.
They probably deleted it because it contradicts what the government is saying.
Winnipeg, MB — St. Boniface NDP Candidate Blandine Tona, alongside NDP Leader Wab Kinew and Health Critic Andrew Swan, called for the building of a new Emergency Room at the St. Boniface Hospital, and pledged her support for training and hiring more nurses.
“The Pallister government’s deep cuts to our healthcare system, including closing three Winnipeg ERs, has caused chaos for front line workers, patients and families,” said Tona. “The NDP is the only party able to stand up to Pallister’s healthcare cuts - and we are saying loud and clear St.Boniface Hospital needs a new ER.”
Pallister asleep at the switch, not dealing with pressing issues: Kinew
Winnipeg, MB – NDP Leader Wab Kinew welcomed action on public safety and transit announced by Mayor Bowman in his State of the City Address today. Missing in action were any concrete initiatives from Brian Pallister to partner with the City of Winnipeg to electrify transit or stop the meth and opioids crisis.
