NDP Membership Grows in Anticipation of Leadership 2017

The Manitoba NDP is excited to report significant growth in its membership following the 90 day cutoff for Leadership 2017, Provincial Secretary Keith Bellamy said today.

"Our membership has grown to now include over 8,000 New Democrats from across the province," said Bellamy. "With thousands of returning and new supporters signing memberships, it's clear there is growing excitement for Leadership 2017 and the future of our party."

Pallister Government’s Refusal to Keep MPI Rates Affordable An Abdication of Responsibility to Families, Businesses

The Pallister government has again abandoned Manitobans by sitting back and allowing MPI rates to rise by more than a projected six per cent over two years, said NDP MLA Andrew Swan.

“Once again, the premier and his cabinet are sitting on their hands while their Crown corporation seeks to impose rate hikes,” Swan said. “The government has a duty to keep vehicle insurance rates affordable for families and businesses and it’s failing to uphold that duty.”

Pallister Government’s Failure to Sign on to National Climate Accord A Lost Opportunity to be a Leader, Reduce Emissions, Create Green Jobs

The NDP is calling on the Pallister government to stop dragging its heels and sign on to the national climate change agreement before it loses out on millions in federal funding earmarked for reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

“Ottawa has made it clear that Manitoba must sign on before the end of this year or we risk losing an estimated $66 million that would help the province reduce emissions and create green jobs,” said NDP Environment Critic Rob Altemeyer. “Pallister’s negotiating games with the federal government may cost Manitoba businesses and consumers millions.”

Thank You!

We held ceremony with our young Indigenous activists and met them at the Bell Tower. We raised flags for Pride, and Filipino Independence, and we listened to as many people as we could find, to share their thoughts and hopes about Point Douglas, the NDP, and the future of our constituency.
